Following the Housing Statement announcement in September 2023, Victoria is introducing mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the real estate sector. Rolling out in November 2026, these reforms will affect:
- Real estate agents (licensed real estate agents and agents’ representatives)
- Property managers
- Owners corporation managers
- Conveyancers
Why Mandatory CPD?
The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) has championed these changes to:
- Elevate professional standards
- Enhance industry skills and knowledge
- Ensure ongoing compliance with legislative changes
What’s Being Developed?
CPD Regulations
Draft regulations are currently in industry consultation, ensuring all stakeholder voices, including the REIV, are heard.
Agents’ Representative Registration Scheme
A new registration framework for agents’ representatives will accompany the CPD roll‑out.
The state government and REIV continue to collaborate closely
As consultations progress, members can expect regular updates on final regulations and CPD obligations, plus access to training and support resources from the REIV.
