Pakenham is located approximately 25 kilometres south east of Dandenong and some 55 kilometres south east of Melbourne. Pakenham, a relatively young and thriving community predicted to have a population growth of 70% over the next 15 years. Although it still bears some of the historical characteristics of a vibrant country town, Pakenham is beginning to come of age, reflecting the population growth with new industries and an expanding variety of community services.
The existing shopping centre enjoys representation of major banks, together with other national retailers. The new Pakenham Place shopping centre is easily accessible to Pakenham's Main Street, the Princes Highway and the railway station.. It is also within short distance of other facilities in the town, including the racecourse and showgrounds. Pakenham is home to Victoria's first privately managed livestock exchange, currently under construction, as well as many other large scale industries.
